Lenora Dog Park Reviews
Beautiful Park and facilities, awful dog owners... be careful with your beloved dogs at this park
I have been living in Loganville, GA for approximately 3 months. I came from Decatur, GA. where my 1 y/o dog has had the pleasure of growing up. The parks in Decatur are not as kept up or accomodating as Lenora Church, but the owners are very responsibile and caring.
I first visited the park on a Sunday. My dog was having a great time for about two hours. I had never seen such a variety of dogs. She is medium sized (60lbs) the other dogs were Rots, St. Bernards, some really big dogs, but they all got along just fine... that is until a dog with a dark red coat and blue eyes (looked like a lab/pit mix) started trying to play with my dog. My dog for some reason backed away from her, the dog kept on until it was chasing her and going for her neck. At that time I grabbed a hold of my dog and tried to pry the other dog off of her, it would not stop. There was a very nice man standing by me who grabbed the other dog. Finally two people (I thought were the owners) came and grabbed the dog from the mans hands. I left directly after that.
I decided to try the park again on a Tuesday, thinking that we would not run into that particular dog, hopefully. As soon as we entered into the park and I still had Bellah's leash on, I was taking it off, the very same dog came right for her neck... this time with fury. The owner (who was a female about late 40's and obviously not the same two that grabbed the dog before) yelled from the distance, "oh, give her a chance". I said no, this is the second time she has attacked my dog and I don't want to take the chance of her puncturing my dogs neck so please get your dog. She would not , instead she walked in the opposite direction and insisted that I give her dog a chance. Her dog was getting more and more aggressive and my dog was fighting back and I could not control both of them so I pulled my dog as far under me as I could and I yelled for the owner who was on her way back and finally she got her dog and left. She hollered back... she really is a friendly dog.
My concern is that in that situation what are you to do? I called Gwinnette County Parks and recs and the people have yet to respond. I can tell that they could care less. Is it illegal to spray a dog with mace? Is it illegal to kick a dog to get them off of your or your dog? So my warning to those who do not know, be careful with your beloved pets because although the facilities are extremely attractive, there are some owners who are either clueless, careless, or completely for aggression and it could be the last time you take your dog to the park. I haven't gone back since, because of this. It is a shame because it is right around the corner from my home. I would be a bad owner to place my dog in an environment that is potentially hazardous to her health. THe park is lovely, the dog run is great... it's the owners and the Parks/Rec. Dept. that suck! So Please be careful!
